Australian pacer Sean Abbott has been ruled out of the first Test against India starting December 17 at Adelaide Oval. The pacer sustained a calf injury during the training session, bringing the third injury woe to the home team ahead of the Test series.
Earlier, David Warner was ruled out of the remainder series against India after sustaining a groin injury during the second ODI. Batsman Will Pucovski is also tentative for featuring in the first Test after suffering from a concussion. He got hit on his helmet by Kartik Tyagi during the practice game between Australia A and India last week.
Australia had also suffered another blow last week after Cameron Green sustaining a concussion by getting hit with a ball during India’s batting. The selectors named Moises Henriques as his replacement for the first Test in the probable playing XI.
Abbott will stay at Sydney under the rehabilitation will most likely join the team ahead of the second Test match at the MCG.
Henriques has recently recovered from the hamstring injury that ruled him out of the Australia A vs India game at Sydney Cricket Ground. He cleared his fitness test on Monday and also made a contention in the injury-hit Australian squad.
