IND vs SA 2022: Suryakumar Yadav of the Mumbai Indians has suffered a muscular injury, which has been a setback for Team India. He is expected to miss the entire five-match T20I series against South Africa after being ruled out of the IPL 2022.
“His extent of the injury is a little serious and will need to rest. At this moment, it is unlikely that he will be available for selection for the South Africa series. And we don’t want to rush his return and risk aggravating the injury,” a member of the selection committee told InsideSport.
Suryakumar Yadav was ruled out of the IPL 2022 on Monday. On May 6, he was injured while playing for the Mumbai Indians against the Gujarat Titans.
“Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2022 owing to a left forearm muscle injury. Mr. Yadav sustained the injury during the team’s fixture against Gujarat Titans on 6th May, 2022,” a BCCI press release read.
Suryakumar’s injury has come up as a severe blow for team India. There are few reasons behind it: With Virat Kohli set to be rested, Suryakumar Yadav would have played a crucial role in the series. Furthermore, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant are both out of form. Suryakumar Yadav was in good form before the injury blow. He scored 303 runs in 8 matches for MI at an average of 43.29 including three half-centuries.
“With all your good wishes and support, I will be back in no time. To my MI family, I will be cheering for you from the other side, this time. Let’s finish the tournament on a high note and display our true character on the field,” SuryaKumar Yadav added.
