IND vs WI 2nd T20I: India has made a winning start to the five-match T20I series against West Indies. Rohit Sharma and Co. beat the hosts by 68 runs on Friday. Batting first, India posted a huge score of 190 runs on the board. Rohit Sharma played an outstanding knock of 64 runs in 44 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Surprisingly, he opened the innings with Suryakumar Yadav. The latter gave a decent start, scoring 24 runs in 16 balls but couldn’t convert that into a big score.
Coming in at number three, Shreyas Iyer got out without even opening his account and there could be a chance that he would be replaced with Deepak Hooda in the next game. Rishabh Pant didn’t produce goods, and neither did Hardik Pandya.
India at one stage was in trouble at 102 for 4 in 11.5 overs. However, a counter-attacking knock from Dinesh Karthik meant India managed to post a pretty good score in the end. Karthik played another stellar knock of 41 runs in 19 balls and it helped him bag another Player of the Match award.
West Indies suffered in both batting & bowling departments
West Indies wouldn’t be too happy with their bowling performance but you aren’t likely to see a lot of changes taking place. In pursuit of the target, Mayers and Brooks added 22 runs in just 8 deliveries but Arshdeep Singh had the former to give India the vital breakthrough.
Wickets, thereafter, kept falling at regular intervals, and, in the end, West Indies could only manage to score 122 runs on the board. The likes of Nicholas Pooran, Powell, and Hetmyer got starts but couldn’t convert them into big scores. The fan would expect them to perform a lot better than this.
