India A tour of South Africa: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced the inclusion of Deepak Chahar and Ishan Kishan in India A squad for the South Africa tour. Both the players are currently part of India’s squad for the home series against New Zealand. They will join India A squad after the completion of the third and final T20I match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Both of them will fly to Bloemfontein and join the Priyank Panchal-led side after departing from Mumbai on November 24. India A squad is already in Bloemfontein for the three-match Test series.
Last week, the Selection committee had named Hanuma Vihari for India A squad after he failed to cut into the Test squad against New Zealand. Possibly, Shardul Thakur could too join India A squad for the South Africa tour later on.
Ishan Kishan will join the squad as the second choice of keeping the gloves, with Upendra Yadav already under the fray as the first choice. The bowling department comprises as many as four pacers including Navdeep Saini, Ishan Porel, Arzan Nagwaswalla, and the IPL 2021 sensation Umran Malik.
The players will fly via a charter plane to Bloemfontein and are advised to maintain the protocol and avoid unnecessary movements. They will not undergo quarantine, but their activities would be restricted between the team hotel and the ground.
India A squad will compete in three four-day games in Bloemfontein, the first of which will take place on November 23. The second and third matches will begin on November 29 and December 6 respectively.
