The All India Senior Selection Committee of the BCCI has announced India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, on Thursday.
Three Indian cricketers in Suryakumar Yadav, Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya have received their maiden ODI call-ups. All three players performed well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 and therefore deserved their selections.
The three-match ODI series will begin on 23rd March 2021. The second and third ODI will be played on 26th and 28th March. All the games will be played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
India’s ODI squad:
Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), KL Rahul (wicket-keeper), Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Md. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur.
India showcased brilliant performances with both bat and ball to beat England by 8 runs in the fourth ODI on Thursday. Suryakumar Yadav scored a brilliant half-century on debut, while Shreyas Iyer too scored a quickfire 18-ball 36 as India posted 185 runs in the first innings.
Jason Roy and Ben Stokes batted beautifully in the second innings, scoring 40 and 46 respectively. However, their contribution went in vain as England fell short of 8 runs in the end. Shardul Thakur picked 3 wickets, while Rahul Chahar took 2 wickets in what was his second T20 international.
With that win, India have levelled the five-match series 2-2. The fifth and final ODI will be played at the Narendra Modi International stadium on Saturday.
