India tour of Ireland 2022: India has completed the five-match T20I series against South Africa. After the last game was abandoned due to rain, both teams shared the trophy as they won two games each. India will now be playing a two-match T20I series against Ireland under the leadership of a new captain in Hardik Pandya. India has a pretty good record against Ireland and they would want to maintain that.
So far, the two teams have played against each other thrice and India has won on all occasions. In T20 internationals, India has a 2-0 record against the Irish side and Hardik Pandya and Co. would look to continue the winning momentum.
For the unversed, India will be playing a two-match T20I series against Ireland in Ireland. The first T20I will be played on 26th June, while the second game is scheduled to be played on 28th June 2022.
The series will also see Hardik Pandya leading the Indian Cricket Team in International cricket for the very first time. India played their first-ever match against Ireland in 2007 in an ODI match. Rohit Sharma made his ODI debut in that game.
The two sides haven’t played an ODI against each other, since. India then took on Ireland in two T20 internationals in 2018. India won the first-ever T20I played against Ireland by 76 runs. It was followed by a 143-run win, two days later.
India took the series 2-0 and Yuzvendra Chahal bagged the Player of the series. Skipper, Hardik Pandya has been in brilliant form. He recently led Gujarat to its maiden Indian Premier League title this year. He has been batting better than ever before and has looked a lot more assured at the crease. Hardik Pandya will be one of the players to watch out for.
