India tour of South Africa: Amidst the discovery of a new covid-19 variant Omicron, the upcoming series between India and South Africa is going to be played behind closed doors. The situation is getting worse with every passing day in South Africa, however, the South African board has taken all the necessary precautions to make sure that the Indian Cricket Team is completely safe in the country.
According to the recent developments, South Africa Cricket (CSA) has guaranteed that team India can fly out to India immediately if the situation gets worsens in the country. As per Cricket South Africa’s chief medical officer, the South Africa Government has allowed team India to fly out of the country if necessary despite the borders being closed.
“If there needs to be repatriation and the borders are closed, the government has given a guarantee that they will allow the players and the team to go back to India.
“I think we’ve taken whatever measures we can to ensure that the Indian team is not only safe here, but should they need to leave for whatever reason, that the path is open for them to leave at any point that they wish”, Manjra was quoted by News24.
For those of you who don’t know, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has booked an entire resort for team India instead of making them stay in a hotel. No outside guests are allowed to stay inside the hotel. The members of the staff won’t go outside the hotel during this period. All the members of the staff are already quarantined at the hotel and the top officials are making sure that they are being regularly tested.
The first Test between India and South Africa will begin from Boxing Day i.e., from December 26 at SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium in Centurion.
