Ahead of the three-match ODI series between India and England, Michael Vaughan has predicted that India is going to whitewash England 3-0 as the visitors would be playing without the services of two of their key players of the team Joe Root and Jofra Archer.
Vaughan took to his Twitter handle to made prediction in the three-match series. He wrote,
“Early One day series prediction …. India will win 3-0 !!! No Root or Archer … #INDvENG.”
Both Jofra Archer and Joe Root will miss the three-match ODI series. Jofra Archer was part of the recently concluded T20 series between India and England. However, he has been ruled of the ODI series due to a right elbow injury.
“Archer’s elbow issue has deteriorated over the course of the T20 International series and made it increasingly challenging for him to maintain his performance levels. He has been deemed unfit for selection for the ODI series,” said the England and Wales Cricket Board.
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) named the 14-member squad for the ODI series on Sunday. Three additional players such as Jake Ball, Chris Jordan and Dawid Malan have been added as reserves.
England squad: Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Eoin Morgan (c), Jos Buttler (wk), Ben Stokes, Sam Billings, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Liam Livingstone, Reece Topley, Matthew Parkinson
After winning the Test and the T20 series, India would look to win the ODI series as well and do a clean sweep of the series. On the other hand, England would look to win the ODI series after suffering disappointments in the Tests and T20s.
