PAK vs NED: Pakistan is set to be played their first bilateral series against the Netherlands as the two nations will be playing three one day internationals between each other from 16th August 2022. It is pertinent to note that three matches will be part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League.
For the unversed, the three-match series was originally scheduled to play in July 2020. However, it had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As per the latest reports, the series will now be played in August. All three games will be played at VOC Cricket Ground.
To further shed light on the upcoming series, Pakistan’s Cricket Board Director of International Cricket, Zakir Khan said, “We are pleased that with the support of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB), we have been able to reschedule the series, which is important to the growth and development of cricket in the Netherlands as well as to the two teams’ chances of progressing directly to the 2023 World Cup.
“Our men’s national cricket team had an excellent 2021-22 season and I am confident they will build on the momentum to entertain expat Pakistanis and the Dutch spectators with good cricket. This series will also help KNCB attract new and young audiences towards the game.”
Previously, the two teams locked horns with each other in three ODIs, played in the 1996 and 2003 World Cups. One ODI was also played during the 2002 Champions Trophy. Pakistan had the better of the Netherlands in all three games.
At the time of writing, Pakistan is languishing at number nine on the ICC table with six wins and as many losses in 12 matches. On the other hand, the Netherlands are languishing at the bottom, having managed to secure only 2 wins in 10 matches.
