The 7th match of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 will have England women take on South Africa women’s team at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.

England is currently sitting at the top of the Ground B of the CWG 2022 points table with 1 win in 1 match, boasting of 2 points. South Africa, on the other hand, are yet to open their account.

England played their first match against Sri Lanka and bundled them out for just 106 runs at the end of the first innings. Nilakshi de Silva was the top run-getter for the side, scoring 25 runs in 28 balls, including 2 fours.

As for England, Ecclestone picked three wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs, while the likes of Wong and Kemp claimed two wickets each. England, in reply, chased down the score in 17.1 overs. Alice Capsey played a match-winning knock of 44 runs in 45 balls, a knock which was laced with 4 fours.

Maia Bouchier played an unbeaten knock of 21 runs in 18 balls, including 2 fours South Africa, on the other hand, are coming off a defeat at the hands of New Zealand. New Zealand batted first and managed to score a total of 167 runs in the first innings. Bates starred with the bat, smashing 91 runs in 64 balls, including 8 fours and 3 sixes. For South Africa, the likes of Ismael and Tyron made good returns but couldn’t pick wickets. Mlaba picked the solitary wicket for the team.

In pursuit of the target, South Africa was restricted to 154 runs, thereby falling 13 runs short of the target. The batters got the starts but couldn’t convert them into big scores. South Africa has a do-or-die game on the cards and they would be looking to make the most of it.
