DBA vs CS: Colombo Stars registered their third win on Wednesday after beating Dambulla Aura convincingly by 9 wickets. Dambulla Aura was bundled out for just 89 runs in 13.5 overs.
Not a single batter in the Dambulla Aura’s batting line-up stood up with the bat as wickets kept falling in short intervals. Both the openers departed without troubling the scorers, while Jordan Cox attacking knock of 16 runs in 9 balls was also short-lived.
It was Rajitha, who ran through Dambull’s top order. After sending both the openers back to the hut, he had Cox out at by Lakmal in the deep. Rajitha then cleaned up Abell (0) on just his second delivery to leave Dambulla in all sorts of trouble at 16 for 4 in 2.3 overs.
Skipper, Shanaka looked dangerous in his short cameo of 20 off 11 balls but he too couldn’t convert the start into a big score. It was left-handed fast bowler, Madushan, who top-scored with the bat, scoring 23 runs in 26 balls.
Rajitha cliches 5 for 22
For the Colombo Stars, Rajitha made sensational figures of 5 for 22 in 4 overs. Vandersay picked 2 for 10 in 4 overs and, interestingly, the Stars had only used four bowlers during the innings.
In reply, Mudashan had Dickwella bowled on the very first ball of the innings but that was the only wicket that fell during Colombo Stars’ innings. Dinesh Chandimal and Charith Asalanka stitched an unbeaten 90-run partnership and guided the team home in just 11.3 overs.
Dinesh Chandimal played an unbeaten knock of 31 off 32 balls, while Charith Asalanka amassed 58 off 36 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes.
