Delhi Capitals scripted victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets at Abu Dhabi on Monday. Shreyas Iyer and his men also qualified for the playoffs of IPL 2020 as they became the second team after Mumbai Indians to do so.

Given a target of 153 runs, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane scored their respective half-centuries and took the side home with six balls remaining.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals had won the toss and chose to bowl first at Sheikh Zayed Stadium against the RCB. Pacers Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada were the pick among the DC bowlers who jointly took 5 wickets. Nortje picked 3/33 in four overs and played a crucial role in restricting RCB to 152/7 in 20 overs.

For RCB, opener Devdutt Padikkal continued with his glowing form as he scored yet another half-century and helped the side cross 150-run mark.

Put a target of 153 runs on the board, Delhi Capitals had an upsetting start after losing the wicket of Prithvi Shaw in the 2nd over.

But from other end, Shikhar Dhawan continued scoring runs and started forming a partnership with Ajinkya Rahane during the chase.

Rahane who has been off colours with the bat, accumulated 60 runs while accumulating 88 run partnership for the second wicket.

Subsequently, Delhi Capitals won the match and also raced to the playoffs scheduled to start this week. Anrich Nortje was adjudged the player of the match for his spell and also climbed to the 7th spot in the purple cap holders with 19 wickets.

Delhi Capitals will face Mumbai Indians in their playoffs match on November 5 at Dubai International Stadium this week.
