Delhi State team appoints Raj Kumar Sharma as head coach

Raj Kumar Sharma, the childhood mentor of Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been appointed as head coach of Delhi State team. The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) named Sharma as the head coach of Delhi’s First-Class team.

He will assume the role ahead of the upcoming season of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-21. The tournament will begin on January 10 with the finals slated to be played on January 31.

The 55-year-old has played in the First-class and List A matches and has a vast experience of coaching the cricket teams and players. He has previously been associated with the Delhi Senior team as its bowling coach until the last season.

He is also a Dronacharya awardee in 2016, was also named the head of Under-23 of Delhi in his professional coaching career.

The management also appointment of Ashu Dani as the chairman of DDCA’s selection committee. He will join Mohan Chaturvedi and Chetnya Nanda on the board as the third chairman on the committe.

DDCA also appointed Umesh Chikara as the trainer of the senior team, while naming Gajendra Kumar as the new physio for the upcoming domestic season.

Robin Singh junior and Parvinder Awana represented CAC in the meeting recommended the above names for the designations of the Delhi state team.
