Ace South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket with immediate effect. Dwaine’s retirement comes ahead of his personal decision to divert his focus to T20 cricket.

Pretorius brought an end to his glorious seven-year career for the Proteas with an exceptional record against his name. He made his debut against Ireland in 2016 and subsequently scored his maiden fifty in the second game itself. Pretorius has donned the South African jersey in 30 T20I, 27 ODI and 3 test matches.

In a very short span of time, Pretorius had earned a prolific name for himself. He has scaled 77 wickets across all the formats and retired with a terrific 164.2 strike rate in T20Is. Pretorius also holds the record of the most convincing T20I figures by any Proteas bowler as he struck a decisive five-wicket haul (5/17) against Pakistan in 2021.

Dwaine Pretorius T20 career

Dwaine Pretorius has already been emerging as one of the most astonishing T20 all-rounders. He is already an integral part of prominent franchises in global T20 cricket. Pretorius represents Chennai Super Kings at the Indian Premier League, Durban Super Giants in CSA T20 League and Welsh Fires at the Hundred.

Former South African skipper Faf du Plessis has played a significant role in the development of Pretorius and giving him a sizzling opportunity. CSA Director Enoch Nkwe addressed the media and hailed the remarkable contribution of Pretorius to South African cricket. He further stated that the side will truly miss his services.

Pretorius was also equally overwhelmed to represent South Africa in international cricket. He mentioned that it was an honour to play for the nation and he is looking forward to the upcoming part of his career where he will act as an independent agent and develop as the finest T20 player.
