Ellyse Perry aiming comeback in New Zealand series

Star Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry on Tuesday said she is eyeing a comeback in the national team after returning from an injury.

Perry was ruled out of the T20 World Cup in February following a hamstring injury and also didn’t play in the finals against Indian. Australia will be facing New Zealand for the white-ball series including T20Is and the ODIs later this month.

It has been six months since her absence from the international cricket due to an injury but no cricket took place due to the pandemic.

Currently, Perry is in Brisbane under the quarantine of six weeks before the NZ series begins. But she also emphasized that on attaining her top-level game before making her comeback in competitive level.

“Everything is tracking pretty well and we are using the next couple of weeks to make sure things keep progressing,” Perry said.

Australian women team have a hectic schedule ahead starting from the home series against NZ, followed by the 6th edition of WBBL.

The all-rounder spoke about the workload on the team after the comeback with back to back matches by saying:

“Across the series with both the T20 and one-dayers then looking ahead to the WBBL I’m sure they’ll be some considerations around managing”

Perry’s return to the national team would only strengthen the side ahead of their domestic season.
