ENG v SA 3rd Test: Despite losing the first Test, England have managed to win the series 2-1 after beating the visitors by 9 wickets in the third and last Test match on Monday. Ahead of the start of the third Test, the series was levelled at 1-1 and it was a must-win game for both teams. South Africa batted first and was bundled out for just 118 runs on the board.

England gained control from the very first day itself, thanks to a sensational bowling display from Robinson and Broad, both of whom picked 9 wickets between them. For South Africa, Marco Jansen top-scored with 30 off 59. However, the Proteas fought back with the ball and bowled out England for a paltry score of 158 runs on the board.

Ollie Pope starred with the bat as he played a superb knock of 67 runs in 77 balls, however, he didn’t receive any support whatsoever. Wickets kept falling at the other end and England was all-out for a low total.

Marco Jansen picked a five-wicket haul for South Africa, while Rabada claimed four. In the third innings, it was a combined bowling effort from England bowlers which led to South Africa’s undoing. Sarel Erwee, Keegan Petersen, and Elgar made handy contributions but none of them could go on to play big knocks. For England, Stokes and Broad picked three wickets each, while Anderson and Robinson claimed 2 apiece.

Once again, England managed to chase down a score while batting in the fourth innings and quite easily. Alex Lees and Zak Crawley gave a superb start to the innings as the duo added 108 runs for the opening wicket before Lees got leg-before for 39 off 73. That was the only wicket to fall as Crawley and Pope guided England home, thereby winning the match by 9 wickets.

ENG v SA 3rd Test Brief Scores: England 158 (Pope 67, Root 23, Jansen 5-35, Rabada 4-81) and 130 for 1 (Crawley 69*, Lees 39) beat South Africa118 (Jansen 30, Zondo 23, Robinson 5-49, Broad 4-41) and 169 (Elgar 36, Erwee 26, Stokes 3-39, Broad 3-45) by nine wickets
