ENG vs PAK 1st T20I: England took a 1-0 lead in the seven-match T20I series on Tuesday after winning the first match against Pakistan by 6 wickets. Pakistan batted first and got a decent start in the power play. Babar Azam and M Rizwan added 85 runs for the opening wicket before the skipper departed for 31 off 24 in the 10th over off Adil Rashid.

Once he got out, Pakistan lost momentum as wickets kept falling in short intervals. Haider Ali (11 off 13) couldn’t inspire any confidence with the bat, while the likes of Masood (7), Nawaz (4), and Khushdil Shah (5) also failed to hit the straps.

M Rizwan was the only batter who shone brightly with the bat. He made 68 runs in 46 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes. His knock helped the team reach 158 runs at the end of the first innings.

As for England, Luke Wood starred with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs. Sam Curran returned with figures of 1 for 30 in 4 overs, while Rashid claimed two.

In pursuit of the target, Philip Salt (10 off 10) got out early but Hales played positively upon his result. David Malan (20) and Ben Duckett (21) were guilty of not converting the starts into big scores but Alex Hales held one end firm. He played a match-defining knock of 53 runs in 40 balls, including 7 fours.

Harry Brook’s unbeaten knock of 42 runs in 25 balls meant England chased down the score pretty easily in the end with four balls to spare. M Nawaz, once again, was brilliant with the ball but couldn’t pick any wicket. Haris Rauf also bowled beautifully for his figures of 1 for 23 but the rest of the bowlers went for plenty of runs.

ENG vs PAK 1st T20I Brief Scores: England 160 for 4 (Hales 53, Brook 42*) beat Pakistan158 for 7 (Rizwan 68, Wood 3-24) by six wickets
