ENG vs PAK 5th T20I: The ongoing seven-match T20I series has been nothing short of outstanding. Four matches have been held so far and both teams have won two matches each. All four matches were played at National Stadium in Karachi and the action now shifts to Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore.

The last match was a nail-biter. Till the last over, perhaps, no one could tell who would win the game. England did well to restrict Pakistan to 166 runs in the first innings. M Rizwan and Babar Azam laid a strong foundation as they added 97 runs for the opening wicket.

However, once Babar Azam got out, Pakistan lost momentum as runs were hard to come. M Rizwan played a stellar knock of 88 runs in 67 balls but Pakistan still were 20 runs short of a good total. It would have been an even lesser total had Asif Ali not hit two sixes in the final over of the innings.

Pakistan didn’t set a great total but started well with the bat. The likes of Philip Salt (8), Alex Hales (5), and Will Jacks (0) all got out early. Ben Duckett looked good for his 24-ball 33 but couldn’t convert it into a big score.

His wicket in the 8th over meant England were in all sorts of trouble at 57 for 4. Moeen Ali (29) and Harry Brook (34) tried to resurrect the innings but couldn’t stay for too long either. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals which led to England losing 7 for 130.

It looked like Pakistan would win the game but Dawson then played a game-changing knock of 34 runs in 17 balls. Only 9 runs were needed in the last two overs. Haris Rauf then came into the attack and took Dawson and Olly Stone’s wicket while giving only 5 runs in the over.

Wasim then took the last England wicket on the second ball of the last over to help Pakistan win the game from the jaws of defeat. Pakistan would be brimming with confidence, while for England, it would be a hard pill to digest.

It will be interesting to see how the next three matches pan out.
