ENG vs SA: Ace England pacerJofra Archer has aced in the England squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa after a brief period of almost a couple of years. Archer had remained out of the national squad owing to elbow and back injuries and had last donned the national jersey against India in March 2021.

Jofra Archer has been struggling with a long-standing elbow injury and needed continued medical attention for the same. Archer’s grievous injury had to undergo a couple of shoulder surgeries and a minor fracture in his lower back.

Notably, Archer made a perfect comeback in England’s setup. He had a fascinating training session in UAE followed by a stellar performance for England Lions against the frontline test squad. Archer also hit frontline batsman Zak Crawley with a stunning bouncer.

Archer had to go through the thicks and thins of a patient battle against the injuries. His return will also mark his availability for MI Cape Towns ahead of the inaugural edition of the CSA T20 League in South Africa.

Apart from Jofra Archer, Harry Brook was also given a major breakthrough and rewarded for his thunderous performance against Pakistan. Brook earned his maiden ODI call-up and will likely get capped across all three formats of the game. Middle-order batsman Ben Duckett has also been called for the series after his sizzling knocks in the subcontinent.

Ace all-rounder Liam Livingstone has been excluded from the squad after he sustained a knee injury in the first test against Pakistan. Joe Root has also been omitted after the former skipper signed a contract with Dubai Capitals for the second edition of the International League T20.

The likes of Will Jacks, James Vince and Sam Billings have also been left out as England aims to develop a frontline squad ahead of the 2023 World Cup. Jos Buttler will continue the lead side and he will be deputed by Moeen Ali.
