The Rajasthan Royals captain, Steve Smith, and his fellow Australian and England players, Jofra Archer, Tom Curran, and Andrew Tye, underwent the COVID-19 test on Friday. The players will begin their training once the result of the test turns out to be negative.

The players arrived in UAE on Thursday and are staying in isolation since their arrival, the RR officials confirmed. The conditions for the commencement of these players is the completion of the 36-hour quarantine period and a negative COVID-19 result.

“The boys took the bus from the tarmac itself and headed straight to their rooms after arriving in the hotel. Smith and the boys underwent their test today morning and results are awaited. Once that comes and they test negative, they will join the rest of the squad and start training for the opener,” ANI cited an RR official as saying.

All the players arriving from Dubai and Australia are required to undergo a 36-hours quarantine period. The teams recently completed their ODI-series and are now geared up for the IPL.

The RR will play their opening match of the IPL 2020 against Chennai Super Kings at Sharjah on Tuesday, 22 September. The much-awaited match will take place at Sharjah at IST 7:30 PM. RR will be playing its second match at the same venue in which they will battle out the Kings XI Punjab.
