England limited overs skipper Eoin Morgan on Tuesday surpassed former Indian skipper MS Dhoni by hitting the most number of sixes by an International skipper.

Morgan achieved this feat during the third and the finals ODI match against Ireland on Tuesday when he hit 106 runs. Ireland had won the toss and opted to bowl first as the hosts came in to bat. Openers Bairstow (4 runs) and Jason Roy (1 run) were bundled out cheaply.

Morgan along with Tom Banton (58 runs) put up a brilliant batting display, taking the side’ score to 328 runs in 49.5 overs.

In his innings of 106 runs, the England skipper hit 15 fours and 4 sixes and also bettered MS Dhoni’s record of 211 sixes in just 163 innings. MS Dhoni took 332 games to score those many numbers of sixes, followed by Ricky Ponting (171 in 324 matches), Brendon McCullum (170 in 121 matches) and AB de Villiers (135 in 124 matches)

The 33-year-old is also the first England captain to win the World Cup against New Zealand last year.

England is already leading the ODI series against Ireland by 2-0 and also looking to win the series by 3-0 in Southampton.
