Chris Jordan has been ruled out of the  remainder of the Hundred after suffering a right hand middle finger injury. Jordan got his finger caught when Kieron Pollard tried to swing him down the ground for four. This happened on Friday night during Southern Brave’s loss to London Spirit while fielding off his own bowling.

Despite Jordan sustaining injury, he continued to bowl in that match and batted four times during the run chase by the Brave. But he was absent for their match against the Oval Invincibles on Sunday. Hence he is now officially out of the tournament. Tymal Mills was also eliminated from the tournament. Therefore Brave are expected to sign at least one replacement player before their match against Manchester Originals on Thursday night.

Mahela Jayawardene, their head coach, said after Sunday’s game: “We have a few days before our next game so we will make some plans and see who is out there and available.”

Jordan is England’s most recent injury concern ahead of the T20 World Cup later this year. But he hopes to be healthy in time for the team’s September tour to Pakistan.

Richard Gleeson has been battling a niggle that has kept him out of all four Originals games so far. He made a strong impression on debut this summer. Chris Woakes and Mark Wood, who are also getting back into shape, will not participate in the Hundred.

London Spirits defeated Southern Braves by 9 runs

London Spirit defeated Southern Braves by the margin of 9 runs. Jordan bowled 20 deliveries and conceded 33 runs without taking a wicket. London Spirit posted 147/6 in the first innings. Southern Brave fell short of 9 runs in the end after they were reduced to 138/7 in 100 balls. Daniel Bell-Drummond became the player of the match for his 33-ball knock that yielded him 46 runs.
