Veteran England cricketer Andrew Flintoff has been hospitalized after a fatal car crash on Monday, December 12. Flintoff sustained grievous injuries and was immediately airlifted to a specialty hospital for further treatment.
Flintoff was shooting for BBC TV’s Top Gear show at the Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey. While driving the car for shooting, Flintoff lost his control on the race track followed by a gazing crash resulting in the hospitalization of the former cricketer.
A BBC TV Spokesperson addressed the media and stated that Flintoff faced an accident at the Top Gear test track after which the medical crew immediately attended the scene and provided assistance to him. He was then airlifted to a nearby hospital through an air ambulance available at the race track.
Adding to that, the spokesperson also mentioned that the injuries aren’t life-threatening as Flintoff was driving at a normal speed and not a high speed. The filming of the TV show has now been postponed and will only be scheduled once Flintoff has completely recovered after the treatment.
Andrew Flintoff is fond of cars and loves to shoot shows with the same background. However, this was not the first time that he was involved in a car crash. He also survived a 125 mph crash and walked away safely in 2019. Flintoff had admitted his mistake and said that he lost control and went to a couple of lengths far.
Meanwhile, social media has been flooded with wishes for Flintoff where critics, stars, and fans are praying for his speedy recovery. Flintoff had a luminous career for England cricket. His golden years marked England’s terrific victory in the T20 World Cup. He last represented the national side in 2009 and retired from professional cricket in 2015. Flintoff was also a professional heavyweight boxer.
