Frontline Australian pacer Hannah Darlington is to miss the Women’s National Conference League and the initial part of the Women’s Big Bash League after sustaining a grievous knee injury at the pre-match training session.

Darlington will now undergo surgery on her left knee. According to further details, Hannah has suffered an injury on the meniscus of her left knee. After sustaining the injury, Darlington was off the field and immediately rushed to the hospital.

Darlington’s injury will be carefully monitored by the Australian Cricket Board (ACB). She will likely undergo proper treatment and rehabilitation in the coming week. She will likely join the Sydney Thunders squad at the Women’s Big Bash League that is scheduled to end in late November.

In her short international career, Darlington has represented Australia in only a couple of ODI and T-20 Internationals. She was attending the training session and practised at the National Leadership Forum in Canberra.

Speaking to the media, Darlington said that it was a freaky incident caused due to her negligence. She said that while bowling in the nets, her spikes got stuck in the soil and she fell and injured her left knee after which she struggled to sprint.

Darlington will now miss an important opportunity to make her debut at the Women’s National Conference League. She was set to represent New South Wales and play an integral part to lead the side to a victory.

Darlington had also captained Sydney Thunders in absence of regular captain Rachael Haynes in the previous edition of the championship. She was also elected as a reserve to Australia’s ODI squad but had later withdrawn due to her mental health.

The absence of Darlington will be a big blow to New South Wales and Sydney Thunders. We wish her a speedy recovery from her injury.
