English batsman Harry Brook bagged his first ICC Player of the Month award for men for December 2022 after a marvellous performance.
The 23-year-old was in the race for the award alongside Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and Australian batsman Travis Head. With amazing gameplay in crucial games in the tour of Pakistan, this youngster earned the award for the first time ever.
England whitewashed Pakistan in the three-match test series played in December. Across the three test matches, Brook hit 468 runs at an average of 93.60, comprising three hundred and one fifty. In the second test, he struck 153 in the first innings followed by 87 in the next innings. He scored two more centuries at Multan (108) and Karachi (111). Brook had just played one Test match in his international career before the tour of Pakistan. With aggressive gameplay, the young lad helped team England win a match on Pakistan soil after seventeen years.
“It is an honour to have won the ICC Player of the Month for December. To win a Test series 3-0 in Pakistan was an incredible achievement and contributing with the bat in my first Test tour with England was a dream come true,” said Brook on winning this maiden award.
The award is given on a global voting basis by media representatives, ICC Hall of Famers, former international players, and fans registered at ICC’s official website.
Previously in September-October, Brooks was awarded the ‘Man of the Series’ because of his ecstatic performance in a seven-match T20I series against Asian Giants. Brooks will be seen in the Indian Premier League 2023 as a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise. He was bought in SRH for a sum of INR 13.25 crores. The youngster will definitely be someone to watch out for in big games.
