Australia’s limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch on Thursday said that Marnus Labuschagne may have to wait for a place in the T20I team. Last year, Labuschagne was the find of the season as he replaced the concussion hit Steve Smith during the Ashes series.

Currently, the Australian team is in England for a white-ball series consisting of three T20Is and as many ODIs starting from tomorrow. Australia played a practice game on Tuesday where Labuschagne scored a century off just 51 balls. Australian team looked comfortable despite returning on the field after almost six months.

The opening pair Aaron Finch and David Warner laid the foundation of Australia’s innings alongside Steve Smith’s presence who led the innings beautifully.

“We’re pretty settled with how we structure our T20 side at the moment,” Finch told during a conference call.

“He (Labuschagne) played nicely the other day, but I think he might have to wait a little bit longer in T20 cricket.” he added.

At the same time, Alex Carey also scored 107 in that match while the all-rounder Glenn Maxwell blasted 108 runs in the ODI warmup game.

“It’s been a really good hit out the last few days. Obviously with Maxwell getting a hundred, Marnus, Alex Carey all getting hundreds in two different formats is really pleasing.” Finch praised Maxwell.

England and Australia last played against each other in the semi-finals of the World Cup last year where hosts beat Australia and race towards the finals. Finch praised the current England side saying that they have been playing limited-overs cricket really well in the last few years.

The first match of the T20I series will take place at the Rose Bowl Stadium on September 4 i.e., Friday.
