ICC Rankings: Massive gains for Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer

The latest edition of the ICC Rankings has been released where Indian batsmen Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer have gained a massive lead in the player’s batting standings. India is currently on a limited-overs tour to the West Indies.

Shikhar Dhawan climbed up to joint 13th position after a stunning knock of 97 runs against West Indies in the first ODI of the series. Dhawan’s maestro helped India seize a three-run win in a gripping encounter. He also earned the Man of the Match award for his performance and led his side to a 2-0 series win.

Another Indian batting veteran Shreyas Iyer climbed 20 spots to the 54th position after his splendid knock of 54 runs in the first ODI. Shreyas and Dhawan helped India to post a mammoth target of 309 runs on the board which the hosts failed to achieve.

Meanwhile, Indian paceman Mohammed Siraj has also climbed into the Top 100 rankings of the ODI bowlers after his monumental performance that helped India seal a last-over thriller.

West Indies batsman Shai Hope moved up three places to the 12th position after his magnificent century in the second ODI. Alzarri Joseph climbed to the 16th position after scalping four wickets in the series.

On the other hand, things are getting spiced up in the Sri Lanka-Pakistan test series.

Frontline Sri Lankan spinner Prabhat Jayasuriya continued to soar high in ICC Men’s Test Bowlers rankings after a mind-blowing performance in the first test. He advanced 11 places to the 44th position after scalping 9 wickets in the match.

Pakistani batsman Abdullah Shafique climbed 23 spots to the 16th position after his match-winning knock of 160 runs in the first test. He achieved a career-best rating of 720 which is the highest by any Pakistani test player. Previously, Saeed Ajmal held the record (693).

Captain Babar Azam has overtaken Steve Smith to his career-best ranking of the third position in the ICC Test rankings after an exemplary performance in the third test. Paceman Shaheen Afridi has also peaked at his career-best ranking of the third position in Test cricket.

Spinner Yasir Shah and pacer Hasan Ali moved to the 13th and 32nd positions respectively.

Sri Lankan batsman Dinesh Chandimal has moved 11 spots to the 18th position after his stellar performance in the first test. Frontline batsmen Oshada Fernando and Kusal Mendis also gained tremendously.

For South Africa, Quinton de Kock has climbed to the fourth position after his versatile knock of 92 runs in a rain-washed 3rd ODI against England. Meanwhile, English pacer David Willey advanced to the 23rd position.

New Zealand players Glenn Philips and Lockie Ferguson moved up in the ICC T20I Rankings after a thumping win over Ireland and Netherlands.
