ICC Rankings: Shakib Al Hasan, Kraigg Brathwaite, & David Warner gain big in rankings

ICC Rankings: West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach and Bangladesh skipper Shakib al Hasan have advanced significantly in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings. Following strong showings in the opening game of their ICC World Test Championship series in Antigua.

Match-day Player Roach entered the top 10 for the first time in more than two years after taking seven wickets in the Test, including a five-wicket haul in the second innings. He rose from position 12 to position 8, which is just one spot above his career-best seventh-place obtained in December 2014.

Left-handed all-rounder Shakib has climbed 14 spots to take the 32nd spot among batters. after scoring 51 and 63 runs in the first of two Test matches, which Bangladesh lost by seven wickets,. Formerly ranked first overall, he has climbed two spots to second place on that list but is 39 rating points behind Ravindra Jadeja, an all-rounder for India.

Kraigg Brathwaite, Shakib’s opponent, has moved up one spot to 28th. The other West Indies players to move up in the batters’ list are Jermaine Blackwood, who has moved up six spots to 33rd, and John Campbell, who has moved up eleven spots to 81st. Alzarri Joseph (up to nine spots to 48th) and Kyle Mayers (up to five spots to 40th) have climbed the bowlers’ rankings.

David Warner gains big in ICC ODI rankings

David Warner, the opening batsman for Australia, moved up one spot to ninth in the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings after scoring 99 in the fourth game of the series in Sri Lanka. Charith Asalanka, who was named Player of the Match in the fourth One-Day International, has climbed 19 spots to grab the 32nd spot.

The other individuals that advanced in the Wednesday update include Mitchell Marsh, Jason Roy, and Dhananjaya de Silva. De Silva has climbed 12 spots to 69th among hitters and 11 spots to 61st among bowlers.

Ishan Kishan of India continues to rise in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, moving up one spot. Dinesh Karthik has advanced 108 spots to 87th after scoring 55 in the fourth game of the five-match series, which ended 2-2 with the last game being postponed due to rain.
