ICC releases Future Tours Programme (FTP) for Women’s Cricket

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finally released the Future Tours Programme (FTP) of Women’s International cricket for the period of 2022-25. Indian Women are set to play a couple of Tests in the cycle and feature at the T-20 Asia Cup that is set to return in October 2022.

 

Indian Women will be playing a couple of tests, one against England in December 2023 and the second one against Australia in their tour from December to January 2024. England Women will play the most number of tests (five), followed by Australian Women (four) and South African Women (three). Notably, only four Women’s international sides play test cricket.

 

In an exciting move by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the Women’s T-20 Asia Cup is set to return in the current cycle. A window has been reserved for the same in October this year. The last time the Asia Cup was held was in 2018 in Malaysia where insurgents Bangladesh emerged victorious by beating India off the last ball in the Final.

 

In all, Indian Women will play 27 ODI’s and 36 T-20I’s in the current cycle. In a jam-packed season for Indian Women, all eyes will be on the youngsters who are also geared up for the maiden edition of Women’s IPL 2023.

 

Indian Women will host a total of four home series in 2023-24 consisting of 23 international fixtures. South Africa will initiate India’s home season in September 2023 where they will arrive for three ODI’s and three T-20I’s. After the conclusion of the South African series, New Zealand will arrive to play the same number of matches.

 

The highlight of the season will be England’s tour where they will be playing a test against India after 17 years. England will play three T-20I’s and a solitary test. Australia will conclude India’s winter by touring for a test and three ODI’s along with three T-20I’s.

 

The Women’s T-20 World Cup is set to be hosted in South Africa in February 2023. Before that, Indian Women will be travelling to the West Indies for a tri-nation series including the Proteas. A slot has been reserved by the ICC for the inaugural edition of Women’s IPL from March to May 2023.
