ICC Test rankings: Kane Williamson jumps to 2nd spot in batsman rankings

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday released the latest players’ and team rankings of the Test cricket. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson turned out to be the biggest beneficiary in the latest ICC Test rankings.

Williamson jumped to the second spot in the batting rankings and also joined the Indian skipper Virat Kohli with 886 points following his 251-run-knock against West Indies. He also bettered his previous highest 242 runs in Test cricket as he led his side home in the first Test.

He previously held 4th position in the batting rankings with 812 points, only 15 points behind Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne. Pakistan’s Babar Azam stayed firm on the 5th place with 797 ratings, while Steve Smith continues to lead the rankings with 911 points.

England’s Ben Stokes became the reigning all-rounder with 446 points, dethroning West Indies skipper Jason Holder. India’s Ravindra Jadeja continued to stay at the third place with 397 ratings, followed by Shakib Al Hasan at the fourth place.

Australian pacer Patt Cummins continues to be the no. 1 Test bowler with 904 ratings while New Zealand’s Neil Wagner jumped to the 2nd spot, following his match-winning spell against West Indies.

He took 2 wickets in the first innings, followed by four wickets in the second innings, leading his side to an innings and 134 runs victory in the first Test.

His countryman Tim Southee retained his 4th position in the list with 817 points on his name, followed by Jason Holders (810 points) and Kagiso Rabada (802 points) respectively.

Australia is currently at the top of the Test rankings, followed by New Zealand and India at 2nd and 3rd spot respectively.
