The International Cricket Council (ICC) has scheduled a meeting on Friday to discuss the prospects of the upcoming tournaments. The highlights of the meeting will be the Women’s ODI World Cup of 2021 and the choice of hosts for the 2021 and 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup. Discussion on the next ICC chairman will also be of key focus.

“ICC board executives will meet via video call to discuss ICC tournaments including the women’s ODI World Cup in New Zealand early next year. Apart from this, there will be discussions on ICC chairman”, ANI reported an ICC source as saying.

On 1st of July, Shashank Manohar stepped down from the post of the ICC chairman. The board will discuss the nomination process for the next chairman.

TheICC meeting will take place on video conferencing wherein the Board for Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly along with secretary Jay Shah and Earl Eddings and Nick Hockley of Cricket Australia (CA) will join the discussion for the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cup.

The ICC has agreed on fresh windows for the tournament. The board now has to just decide the venues for the Men’s tournament. The windows are: T20 World Cups in October-November 2021 and October-November 2022, and the ODI World Cup in October-November 2023.

The Men’s T20 World Cup was set up to be hosted in Australia. However, due to the detrimental conditions posed by the pandemic, the ICC announced its cancellation on 20 July.
