Former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer reached out to the Indian team via a tweet ahead of the second test match against Australia. Jaffer tagged the vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane on Twitter and wrote a cryptic message on what seemed like motivational lines.

He deliberately intended the tweet as a hidden message for Ajinkya Rahane who will lead the Indian team during remaining Test series. In his tweet he started off by addressing Rahane “Dear @ajinkyarahane88, here’s a (hidden) message for you. Good luck for Boxing Day!”

The first letter of every word compiled to form ” PICK GILL AND RAHUL” in the tweet indicating picking KL Rahul and Shubman Gill in the playing XI for the second test at the MCG.

The Indian team lost the first Test in a very bizarre fashion despite dismissing Australia on 191 and taking the lead of 53 runs. The visitors faltered completely on 36 runs in their second innings and failed to even surpass 100 runs, setting a meagre target of 90 runs for the hosts. India’s lowest total in the tests was 42 all out in the Tests dated back to 1974 against England.

Joe Burns hit an unbeaten half-century as he took his team home with a win by 8 wickets in the pink-ball day-night Test at Adelaide. The hosts also took a lead of 1-0 over the Indian team before heading to MCG for the traditional Boxing Day Test starting December 26.

The Indian team will be without the regular skipper Virat Kohli as he has headed back to India for the birth of his first child. The visitors have had horrendous display of batting as both the openers Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw failed to provide a good start.

Ajinkya Rahane will look to reform the Indian team ahead of the second Test by going with the right combination into the Boxing Day Test.
