IND vs BAN: India lost the ODI series against Bangladesh 2-0 but ended the series with a 227-run win on Saturday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Riding on a sensational double-century from Ishan Kishan and a century from Virat Kohli, India notched a massive score of 409 runs on the board at the end of the first innings.
Shikhar Dhawan, once again, got out cheaply for just 3 runs but what followed was a record 290-run partnership between Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli for the second wicket. Ishan Kishan had set his intentions quite clearly right from the start of his innings. He tore apart Bangladesh’s bowling attack to all parts of the ground.
Ishan Kishan records a historical knock
Virat Kohli, who struggled to get going initially, was happy to play as a second fiddle. Kishan notched his maiden century in just 85 balls. After reaching the ton, he unleashed his beast mode and went on to score a double-century in just 126 deliveries, a knock which was studded with 24 fours and 10 sixes.
Virat Kohli, on the other hand, also broke his century drought in ODIs as he raised his first ton in ODIs since August 2019. Washington Sundar (37 off 27) and Axar Patel (20 off 17), later, chipped in with valuable contributions to help the team reach past the 400-run mark.
In reply, Bangladesh never looked coming near the target. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals as they failed to stitch a single good-looking partnership. Shakib Al Hasan top-scored with the bat, amassing 43 off 50 balls. But, other than that, there was nothing to boast about for the hosts. In the end, they were bundled out for a paltry score of 182 runs.
For India, Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 for 30 in 5 overs. Axar Patel and Umran Malik also ended up picking two wickets each.
IND vs BAN Brief Scores: India 409 for 8 (Kishan 210, Kohli 113, Shakib 2-68) beat Bangladesh 182 (Shakib 43, Thakur 3-30, Axar 2-22) by 227 runs
