IND vs BAN: In a major setback for the Indian test team, skipper Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the 2nd Test against Bangladesh. Sharma has been undergoing treatment for his injured left thumb and will remain unavailable for selection.
Notably, it is also learnt that the Indian team management also does not want to risk Rohit’s injury by hassling the decision on his selection. Sharma is currently in Mumbai and ensuring proper rehabilitation of his grievous injury sustained during the second ODI against Bangladesh earlier in this month.
Rohit had a striking hit on his left thumb while fielding during the second ODI against Bangladesh. However, vibrant Sharma took to the field with a fully bandaged thumb and smashed a sizzling half-century to drag the side near to a victory but failed in his efforts as the hosts sealed the game by five runs and won a historic series.

Things have not been aligning with Rohit’s side in the ongoing season. Injury scare has been looming over the Mumbai Indians skipper as he had previously missed a vital South African ODI & Test series along with the crucial rescheduled test match against England in June.
Bengal skipper, Abhimanyu Easwaran will continue to serve as Rohit Sharma’s replacement for the second Test. KL Rahul will lead the Indian contingent in absence of Sharma. Ironically, Rahul has been numbering victories for India and has successfully won both games since Rohit’s exclusion.
India has a tight schedule ahead with the Sri Lankan series lined up in January. The mighty Australians will tour the subcontinent in February followed by the IPL 2023 in March. Rohit Sharma’s fitness will be of utmost importance considering the effect of the upcoming bilateral series and subsequently the 2023 World Cup.
