IND vs BAN: Navdeep Saini added to India’s Squad for Test series

IND vs BAN: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday (December 11) confirmed new inclusions in India’s squad for the Bangladesh Test series.

Indian team skipper Rohit Sharma will not play in the 1st Test after he sustained a thumb injury during the 2nd ODI on December 7. The new inclusion in the Indian team for the Test series will see the Bengal skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran replace the injured India skipper.

Selectors have also called up pacer Navdeep Saini and all-rounder Saurabh Kumar as new inclusions for the Test series. Earlier, the board had also named Jaydev Unadkat as the replacement for Mohammed Shami, who had missed the ODI series due to injury.

The BCCI also confirmed via a statement on Sunday (December 11) that both Shami and Jadeja have yet to recover from their respective injuries.

Saini, 30 had last played for India in the Australia series and since then, it will be his first international duty with the Indian team. He has played two games so far and taken 4 wickets, against Australia.

In Rohit Sharma’s absence, KL Rahul will lead the Indian team in the 1st Test, with Cheteshwar Pujara as his deputy. The BCCI medical team will take a call on Rohit’s availability for the 2nd Test in the coming days.

The first Test between India and Bangladesh will undergo at Chattogram from December 14-18, followed by the 2nd Test in Dhaka from December 22-26.
