IND vs BAN ODI: Frontline batsman Litton Das has been named as the captain of the Bangladesh cricket team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India. The appointment of Das comes ahead as regular skipper and ace batsman Tamim Iqbal has sustained a groin injury and has been ruled out of the series.

Liton Das will now serve as the 15th ODI skipper for Bangladesh. Das had earlier led the side for a short instance during a T20I match against New Zealand in 2021 after regular captain Mahmadullah was injured during the series.

Litton Das has been a consistent performer for Bangladesh across all formats. His insignificant stint against India at the recently concluded T20 World Cup is highly acclaimed by critics. Das was always being considered in the fray for leadership roles ever since he was appointed as the deputy of Bangladesh’s new Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan.

Chairman Jalal vouches for Litton’s leadership skills

Bangladesh Cricket Board Chairman Jalal Yunus addressed the media and expressed confidence in the newly appointed captain. He added by saying that Litton has remained a splendid performer for the team and has performed on many crucial occasions. Yunus also asserted the fact that Das has excellent leadership qualities and will definitely give his best to steal the series for the home side.

Yunus also expressed his disappointment over Tamim’s injury. He mentioned that losing Tamim in an utmost important series for Bangladesh as, under his captaincy, the side has played some fabulous cricket and encountered famous victories.

Reportedly, Shakib Al Hasan was also offered the captaincy for the ODI series against India. However, after the veteran declined the offer, BCB considered the appointment and announced Das as the skipper. The ODI series between India and Bangladesh is set to kickstart on December 4.
