IND vs BAN: Ahead of the start of the three-match ODI series against India, the Bangladesh team has been hit with a big blow. Bangladesh’s ODI skipper, Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of the series with a groin injury.
The skipper picked up the injury in the warm-up game at the Shere-e-Bangla National Stadium on 30th November 2022. A report by Cricbuzz suggests that the skipper has been advised to take rest for up to 2 weeks.
“Taskin is ruled out from the opening game of the ODIs as his back pain recurred,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz on Thursday.
“We will be seeing his progress before taking further decisions regarding his participation,” he added.
Notably, the ODI series will be played from 4th December to 10th December. Tamim Iqbal is unlikely to feature in the ODI series but would be keen to make his comeback in the Tests.
India vs Bangladesh series
Following the ODIs, the two teams will be locking horns with each other in a two-match Test series. The first Test is scheduled to be played from 14th December to 18th December 2022. The second and final Test is scheduled to be played from 22nd December to 26th December 2022.
Apart from Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh’s pacer Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out of the first ODI series of series. He was expected to lead the fast bowling department but won’t be playing in the first game. The left-arm seamer, Shoriful Islam will be replacing him for the first ODI.
Taskin Ahmed bowled admirably in the T20 World Cup 2022. He was the most impactful bowler for the team in Australia, picking 8 wickets in five matches at 16.38.
