IND vs BAN: Emerging Bangladesh frontline batsman and wicket-keeper Zakir Hasan has earned his maiden call for the national team in the first test match against India starting on December 14 at Chattogram. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that Zakir will replace veteran batsman Tamim Iqbal who has failed to recover from his injury.

Zakir Hasan has been a stupendous test batsman and has proved his calibre by being the leading run-scorer in the four-day domestic championship. Hasan was also stunning in his efforts against India A in the ongoing unofficial test series. Hasan smashed a fascinating knock of 173 runs in the first test followed by a vital 46-run knock in the second test match.

BCB Chief Selector Minjahul Abedin addressed the media and stated that the physiotherapist has confirmed that Tamim has not been able to completely recover from his groin injury and will remain unavailable for selection in the first test. However, he also mentioned that he is anticipating the medical report for the second test and in wake of this, talented and performing batsman Zakir Hasan will replace Iqbal for the first test.

Bangladesh has also announced the return of senior paceman Mustafizur Rahman who will be a part of the squad for the two-match test series against India. Bangladesh has already outplayed India and taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. They will now look to overshadow India in their triumphant test format.
