IND vs PAK: One of the most highly anticipated encounters of the 20-20 World Cup turned into an unbelievable game for the fans at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. Since Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first, the pendulum both ways.

Arshdeep Singh gave India a sensational start as he sent the likes of Babar Azam and M Rizwan back to the hut for just 15 runs on the board inside the first four overs. However, Iftikhar Ahmed and Masood brought Pakistan back into the game.

The duo added 76 runs for the third wicket and made a great recovery. Iftikhar Ahmed scored 51 off 34 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six. He was looking good but then Rohit Sharma brought Shami back into the attack in the 13th over and the Indian fast bowler finally broke the partnership.

Hardik Pandya then picked the crucial wickets of Shadab Khan, Haider Ali, and Nawaz to deny Pakistan of post a big score. Masood’s unbeaten 52 off 42 balls, however, meant Pakistan reached 159 at the end of the first innings.

Hardik Pandya was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed three wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs. In pursuit of the run-chase, India too made the worst possible start. Naseem Shah accounted for the wicket of KL Rahul, while Haris Rauf had Rohit Sharma caught at slip to leave India in trouble at 10 for 2. Suryakumar Yadav’s (15) wicket meant India was reeling at 26 for 3. Axar Patel then got run out and India lost four for 31 runs in 6.1 overs.

The crusade of King Kohli

India fans had lost hope of winning the game. But little did anyone know what was to follow. Virat Kohli joined hands with Hardik Pandy and the duo stitched a hundred-run partnership to take the total to 144. Pandya got out after scoring 40 runs in 37 balls but Virat Kohli stayed right till the end.

He played, arguably, the best knock of his career and guided the team to a 4-wicket win. India needed 28 runs in 8 balls and Virat Kohli then hit 2 sixes off Haris Rauf to bring the equation down to 16 off 6. India, eventually, managed to chase down the score on the last ball of the innings.

IND vs PAK: India 160 for 6 (Kohli 82*, Hardik 40) beat Pakistan 159 for 8 (Masood 52*, Iftikhar 51, Arshdeep 3-32, Hardik 3-30) by four wickets
