IND vs SL: India and Sri Lanka lock horns with each other in the 2nd ODI of the three-match series at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after beating the visitors by a big margin of 67 runs in the first match.

Making his comeback, Rohit Sharma played a sensational knock of 83 runs. He stitched a 143-run opening stand with Shubman Gill. Gill’s 70-run knock in 60 deliveries also suggests that Ishan Kishan will continue the warm the bench in the coming matches as well.

Virat Kohli continued his fine form with the bat as he notched his 45th ton in ODI cricket. He would be brimming with confidence and it shouldn’t come as a surprise if he hits another one on Thursday.

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul couldn’t convert the start into big scores but still, that could be enough to retain their spots in the playing XI and keep Suryakumar Yadav out of contention.

Axar Patel, the man in form, didn’t have the greatest of outings but he would deepen the batting unit. His spin partner, Yuzi Chahal is also likely to hold on to his spot.

Umran Malik and Siraj were brilliant with the ball but Shami proved a little expensive. Rohit Sharma, however, wouldn’t want to tinker in the bowling department either.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka would want to perform better with both bat and ball. Shanaka carried on his fine form with the bat and scored a century in the last match. However, the team can’t only depend on his services to win the match.

The likes of Kusal Perera, Nissanka, Asalanka, and De Silva have to step up with the bat. Else, they could suffer another defeat on Thursday. Rajitha, once again, was brilliant with the ball as he claimed three wickets.

Their best bet in the spin department, Hasaranga had a forgettable outing in the last game but is expected to come back stronger. Sri Lanka made a blunder by not playing Theekshana in the last match. He is likely to make his way back into the playing XI.
