IND vs SL: After losing the first game against Pakistan in the first match of the Super Four round of the Asia Cup, India will take on Sri Lanka in a do-or-die encounter on Tuesday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Men in Blue lost their last game against Pakistan by 5 wickets. Despite scoring 181 runs in the first innings, India couldn’t defend the total.
There will be a lot of questions regarding playing XI in the next game. Virat Kohli’s form though is a big positive for them. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul also looked good and you expect them to, once again, post a big total.
Whether Rishabh Pant retains his spot will be a big question. If Dinesh Karthik comes back, then Axar Patel might as well be included on the side. However, the chances of that happening are less likely. The Indian bowling had a bad outing in the last match but it is possible that there won’t be any change in the bowling line-up.
Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya are likely to form the pace attack, while Chahal and Bishnoi could only continue to share the spin duties.
Facing them are Sri Lanka, who are coming into the game on the back of a morale-boosting 4-wicket win over Afghanistan. Sri Lanka conceded 175 runs in the first innings but still managed to chase down the score in 19.1 overs. Pathum Nissanka (35 off 28), Kusal Mendis (36 off 19), Gunathilaka (33 off 20) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (31 off 14) all made vital contributions with the bat.
With the ball, Wanindu Hasaranga will be the one to watch out for. He hasn’t had a great outing so far but you expect him to perform well in Dubai on Tuesday.
