IND vs SL: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced team India’s squad for the ODI as well as the T20Is against Sri Lanka, starting from 3rd January 2022. Skipper Rohit Sharma has been training in the nets but will be fully fit by the end of the first week. Therefore, he has been rested for the T20s and will make his comeback in the ODIs.

Neither KL Rahul nor Virat Kohli asked for rest for the T20I series but the selectors opted to rest both of them. This also means that the likes of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan can stake their claims, both of whom have been added to the T20 squad.

IND vs SL: Shikhar Dhawan sidelined

Hardik Pandya has been selected as the captain of the team in the T20 series. He will be a player to watch out for. Another major development has been Shikhar Dhawan’s exclusion from the ODI squad. He led the ODI squad for the most part of 2021 but doesn’t find a place in the squad for the Sri Lanka series.

Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah are performing at full throttle in the nets but the selectors want to see them in match simulation just to be fully sure of their match fitness.

Prasidh Krishna continues to recover from the back injury he sustained on the eve of India’s A series against New Zealand. Deepak Chahar, too, is yet to recover from injury, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar wasn’t even part of the discussion.

The likes of M Shami, Umran Malik, and Arshdeep Singh will be seen in action in the ODI series. Siraj and Shreyas Iyer have been rested for the T20I series and will be back in the ODIs.

Yuzvendra Chahal continues to be part of the squad for both series, while Ravi Bishnoi wasn’t even considered.
