IND vs WI 3rd ODI: India registered a series whitewash over West Indies after beating them by 119 runs in the third ODI on Wednesday at Queen’s Park. Due to heavy rainfall, the match was reduced to 36 overs. India batted first and put on a pretty good score of 225 runs at the end of the first innings. Once again, Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill got off to a great start.

The duo added 113 runs for the opening wicket before the skipper got out off Hayden Walsh. Shikhar Dhawan played another handy knock of 58 runs in 74 balls, including 7 fours. Shubman Gill, on the other hand, looked as flawless as ever. Once again, he exhibited his range of shots, taking the bowlers to the cleaners.

Rain denies Shubman Gill his maiden century

He played an outstanding unbeaten knock of 98 runs in as many deliveries, a knock which was laced with 7 fours and 2 sixes. He could have reached his ton had rain not interrupted the game. Shreyas Iyer, on the other, also continued his fine form, amassing 44 runs in 34 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six.

India, as a result, posted a target of 225 runs in 36 overs. For West Indies, Hayden Walsh and Akeal Hosein were the only bowlers who picked wickets for the team. Hayden Walsh returned with figures of 2 for 57 in 8 overs.

In pursuit of the score, West Indies got off to a disastrous start. M Siraj sent K Mayers back to the hut on the very first ball of his over. In the same over, he had Shamarh Brooks leg-before to leave the hosts in trouble at 0 for 2 in 1.3 overs. Shai Hope and Brandon King then added 47 runs for the third wicket but couldn’t stitch a big partnership. Chahal removed Hope for 22 off 33 but Pooran and King kept the hopes alive.

Both scored 42 runs each, however, once the duo got out, wickets fell in quick succession. In the end, West Indies were folded for just 137 runs. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal starred with the ball, picking 4 for 17 in 4 overs.
