IND vs WI: Virat Kohli has requested a break for yet another T20I series. The BCCI and the selectors, however, are not inclined to comply this time. Instead, they have deferred to the management of the team in making a choice. The five-game T20 series against the West Indies will be an important chance for Rahul Dravid to test the lineup. In light of this, a choice will only be made during the selection meeting. The squad will probably be revealed today.

Due to his recent struggles, Virat Kohli’s position in the Indian team has come under scrutiny. Even worse, Kohli’s request for a second break has not been well received by BCCI officials. Kohli and the BCCI are already at odds. While there have been rumours that Kohli will get the rest he requested, nothing has been decided as of yet.

“If a player wants to rest, you can’t deny him. Yes, it’s not ideal for a player who is struggling with form. But we can’t force a player to play if he doesn’t want to. But no decision on Virat has been made yet. We will discuss with both captain and the coach before announcing the squad,” a member of the selection committee said.

Fans and former players harshly criticized Virat Kohli for asking for a break. Many people, including former India captain Kapil Dev, demanded that he be removed from the T20 squad due to his performance. After a five-month break from T20Is, Kohli returned against England in the second T20. But instead of silencing his detractors, he was removed for only one run.

After India’s third Twenty20 match against England, the team will be revealed.

All senior professionals have been asked to be available by the team management. It will assist head coach Rahul Dravid in selecting the lineup for the five-match series. KL Rahul will be absent because of an injury. However, all other senior multi-format players, including Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and skipper Rohit Sharma, will be available.

India will play a three-match ODI and five-match T20I series, starting on July 22. For the ODI series, all senior players—including skipper Rohit Sharma—have been rested. Shikhar Dhawan has been selected as the series captain for ODIs.
