IND vs WI: Ravindra Jadeja is questionable to start the One-Day International series against the West Indies, which begins on Friday (July 22). On the other hand, KL Rahul is unlikely to play in the T20 International series. The series will take place later in the Caribbean and the US.
According to reports Jadeja has a niggle in his knee and is seeking medical assistance to evaluate the severity of his injury. He was selected vice-captain for the three-match ODI series. Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the ODI squad.
Sources further report that the all-rounder might be ready for the five-match T20I series that comes after the three ODIs. The ODIs are slated to take place on July 22, 24, and 27. The venue for the same is the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
The national selectors and the team management are debating whether to name a deputy in light of the development. And that coach Rahul Dravid will make the choice of the vice-captain at the moment. Shardul Thakur and Yuzvendra Chahal are the two other experienced players in the ODI team.
According to BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, KL Rahul is unlikely to play in the five-game T20I series. He is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He had tested COVID-positive. The series will take place from July 29 to August 7, at three locations: Trinidad, St. Kitts, and Florida (US).
Rahul recently underwent groyne surgery. According to information, Kuldeep Yadav and Rahul were to take a test at the NCA on Friday. Kuldeep Yadav was to make a cut into the squad but only depending on the condition to achieve full fitness. Rahul now appears to be in danger of missing both the fitness test and the tour altogether.
