IND vs ZIM: India seal series with a 5-wicket win in the 2nd ODI

IND vs ZIM: India sealed the three-match ODI series 2-0 after beating Zimbabwe by 5 wickets in the 2nd ODI on Saturday at Harare Sports Club in Harare. Skipper, KL Rahul, once again, opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Deepak Chahar was replaced by Shardul Thakur and the latter picked three wickets for 38 runs in 7 overs.

Mohammed Siraj, on the other hand, picked 1 wicket for 16 runs in 8 overs. He exhibited an outstanding opening spell along with Prasidh Krishna as Zimbabwe lost four wickets for just 31 runs on the board. Shardul Thakur picked the crucial wickets of Kaia, Chakabva, and Jongwe to dent Zimbabwe’s batting unit.

Half of the side went back to the hut for just 72 runs on the board. Sean Williams (42) and Ryan Burl (39) added crucial runs and helped the team reach some sort of trouble. By the end of the first innings, Zimbabwe had scored 161 runs on the board. In reply, India didn’t make a great start. Making his comeback, KL Rahul got leg-before off Nyauchi for just 1 run off 5 balls.

Shikhar Dhawan, however, played a vital knock of 33 runs in 21 balls, including 4 fours. Shubman Gill also added crucial 33 runs in 34 balls, including 6 fours. India had lost 3 wickets for 83 runs on the board and the fourth wicket fell in the form of Shubman Gill (33) for 97 runs on the board. Deepak Hooda also lost his wicket after scoring 25 runs in 36 balls but an unbeaten knock of 43 runs in 39 balls from Sanju Samson helped India chase down the score in 25.4 overs.
