The Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian Women’s team squad for the Commonwealth Games 2023 at Birmingham. This is the first time that cricket will be part of a multi-sport prestigious event. The format of the game will be Women’s T-20 International where eight teams will battle it out for the gold medal.

Commonwealth Games are scheduled to take place in Birmingham, England from July 28th to August 8th. The Indian contingent will likely fly to England by the end of this week.

India is placed in Group A alongside the stalwart Australian side and the underdogs Barbados and Pakistan. Group B consists of England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and South Africa. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals and the winners of the semifinals will play the gold medal match whereas the losers will fight for the bronze medal.

India will play three pool stage fixtures at the Commonwealth Games 2022. India will take on Australia in their inaugural fixture on July 29 and will face the arch-rivals Pakistan on July 31. The final game of India’s women’s team will be against Barbados on August 3. The semifinals will take place on the 5th of August, while the finals will take place on August 6.
