India vs Zimbabwe: Next month, India will go to Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series. Although the dates are not official yet. However, according to sources three ICC One-Day Super League matches have been tentatively set for August 18, 20, and 22.

The games are extremely vital for the home team. Because the points from the series will determine whether they qualify for the next year’s ODI World Cup in. They are less significant for India, as Rohit Sharma’s team had secured a spot in the pinnacle event in October.

The six ODIs between India, England and the West Indies this month are not a part of the Super League.

“We are absolutely delighted to host India and we look forward to a competitive and memorable series,” a Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) official told Cricbuzz on Friday (July 8).

As of now, all the matches will tentatively take place at the Harare Sports Club in the capital city. The Indian team will expectedly arrive in Harare on August 15.

“It’s a big opportunity for the players to play against the Indian players and for the cricketing fraternity in Zimbabwe. It will create a lot of interest amongst the younger generation to take up this game. Overall, the series is very good for Zimbabwe cricket,” said Lalchand Rajput, the team’s former head coach, who has now been promoted to Technical Director. The Craig Ervin-led team’s head coach is Dave Houghton.

India to tour Zimbabwe after six years

India is embarking on its first tour in six years to Africa. The last time India visited was in June-July 2016 after the MS Dhoni-led team had played three ODIs and as many T20Is. This time, there are no 20-over matches because the Asia Cup will start in Sri Lanka. It will begin on August 27 less than a week after the third and final ODI. India might once more field two distinct sides at once, given the short break between the two series.
