Chief of the Cricket Advisory Committee of India, Madan Lal is of the view that pacer Japrit Bumrah’s presence at Brisbane for the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy will greatly benefit team India.

Lal said that if Bumrah will lead the bowling line-up, it will greatly bolster the team’s performance. Bumrah is troubled with an abdominal strain, but Lal confirmed that the bowler will play even if he is 50 per cent fit.

“Brisbane as a ground is different so I think challenges will be there for the Indian team. And I feel if Bumrah plays it will be beneficial for the Indian team,” Madan Lal said while speaking to ANI.

“Lot of problems is there in front of the Indian side. More than half of the team is injured, top players are injured, and the absence of big players will definitely be there. As of now, it looks very tough for them to form even a playing 11. In the case of injuries, reserve players will get the chance,” he added.

With seven of their important players injured and four of them already ruled out of the series for good, India has new challenges to face at Brisbane. Mohammad Shami’s injured hand didn’t allow him to play the Test, while Umesh Yadav had to limp out midway of the match due to his calf injury. The option of including KL Rahul in the playing XI was also eliminated due to his injury.

The third Test added to the number of the injured players of the Indian cricket team, as Ravindra Jadeja suffered a severe blow to his left thumb and Rishabh pant to his elbow, which greatly impacted their game. BCCI informed on Monday that Jadeja was ruled out of the fourth Test since he dislocated his thumb and will undergo treatment in Sydney.

Even Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari, who prevented India’s loss in the previous match and let the game to a draw, are both suffering from their injuries.

Speaking of Ashwin’s inclusion in the team for the final match of the series, that at the moment it is unclear and that it depends on his fitness. Whatever the decision will be, it will be cleared out tomorrow.

“I think if Ashwin is fit and if he plays, it will be really good news. You will come to know about injuries update and team by tomorrow,” Lal said.
