India vs Zimbabwe: India and Zimbabwe will be locking horns with each other in the second match of the three-match ODI series on Saturday at Harare Sports Club. India registered a comprehensive 10-wicket win in the first ODI. The Men in Blue bundled Zimbabwe out for just 189 runs on the board. Coming back from injury, Deepak Chahar produced a sensational bowling performance as he ran through Zimbabwe’s top order, picking the wickets of Innocent Kaia, T Marumani, and Madhevere.
Siraj and Prasidh also supported him brilliantly. Skipper Chakabva (35) was playing well until Axar had him bowled. The Indian spinner was brilliant with his lengths as he picked 3 wickets for just 24 runs in 7.3 overs. Deepak Chahar starred with the ball, picking 3 for 27 in 7 overs.
Zimbabwe’s top-order failed to hit the straps and the team would want them to bat well in the next game if they are to come back stronger. Kuldeep Yadav also came back from injury but couldn’t pick any wicket. Although, he was economical, returning with bowling figures of 0 for 36 in 10 overs.
In pursuit of the target, India chased down the score in just 30.5 overs without losing a single wicket. Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan stitched a record partnership, adding 192 runs for the opening wicket without getting out. Gill smashed 82 runs in just 72 balls, including 10 fours and 1 six. On the other hand, Dhawan scored 81 handy runs in 113 balls, including 9 fours.
KL Rahul, who is coming from injury, didn’t get to bat in the first game. Given that he is in India’s squad for the Asia Cup, the management would want him to bat as many balls in the next two games and thus he might open on Saturday.
